Era una fiesta de cumpleaños en Monahans, en Sandhills Park.
Y ahí me paró el Policía del parque.
En un State Park no puedes exceder la velocidad, es algo penado.
Me acuerdo muy bien, llegó a la ventana, me pidió la licencia de manejar.
Y yo todo el tiempo he confiado, amigos míos me han dicho “si te para la policía presenta tu licencia de manejar de México, no te hacen nada en ese tiempo, y fue lo que hice saque mi licencia de manejar mexicana y la presenté
Inmediatamente me dijo esta no es valida aquí, no traes otra licencia, otra identificación contigo
No es lo único que traigo
Subió al carro, habló a Migración. Eso fue un sábado, pues Migración, no se en todos lados, pero Migración estaba cerrada la locación en ese tiempo en Pecos.
Pues de ahí de Monahans me transfirieron para la cárcel, la cárcel normal de ahí del Condado de Pecos, ahí pasé sábado, domingo.
Y ahí fue donde dije ahorita es que se va a saber si es una relación de a deveras o no lo es de a deveras, si no lo es me voy a ir para México, si sí es me voy a quedar aquí, ella va a hacer lo posible por arreglarme
Y si, ya para el lunes ya tenia mi abogada, Jeanne Morales
Yo ya había firmado deportación voluntaria en ese tiempo, y ella peleó por mi, peleó bastante por mi.
Me acuerdo que los de Migración se enojaron porque ya estaba todo el papeleo hecho, ya estaba en el camión para salir por Presidio, me acuerdo, pues cambiaron los planes, vino una camioneta y me hicieron transferencia a El Paso a estado de detención aquí.
Y luego ya después de Monahans, de Sandhills Park fue cuando salí en bond, agarre mi permiso de trabajar, y luego de dos años saque mi residencia permanente y empezamos a trabajar en la ciudadanía, ese es.
Ha sido un proceso muy largo pero ha valido la pena
Yo estaba detenido, en estado de detención y no sé como mi señora llegó con Jeanne Morales, se me hace que mi cuñada le dio la información de Jeanne Morales.
Pero todo fue bien rápido de un sábado a un lunes ya tenia una abogada.
Ya sabia que no tenía que firmar, que no tenía que hablar. Ella iba a hablar por mi, ella me iba a defender y lo puse todo en las manos de ella
Lo confiamos era a ganar o perder, era un albur para mi, no para la abogada, para la abogada era si lo vamos a hacer y no le hace lo que se va a llevar”. Esa es la seguridad de Jeanne Morales.
Jeanne Morales es una persona que pelea por ti
No deja, no te deja o no te va a quitar el dinero, o no te dice, si llena estos papeles y nada mas le está dando vueltas a las cosas.

From Monahans, they transferred me to the jail, the normal jail in Pecos County, where I spent Saturday, Sunday.
And that’s where I said “Right now that we are going to know if the relationship with my girlfriend at that time was for real or not a true one at all, if it is not, I’m going to Mexico, but if it is real I’m going to stay here, she’s going to do everything possible to get me out”.
And yes, by Monday I already had my lawyer, Jeanne Morales
I had already signed voluntary deportation at that time, and she fought for me, fought hard for me.
I remember that the Immigration officers got angry because all the paperwork was done, I was already in a bus to be deported by Presidio, I remember, but the plans changed, a van came and they transfer me to El Paso to be detained here.
After Monahans, Sandhills Park was when I was freed on bond, I got my work permit, and after two years I obtain my permanent residence and started working with the US Citizenship.
It has been a very long process, but it has been worth it
I was arrested, put in a state of detention and I do not know how my wife get in touch with Jeanne Morales, I think it was my sister-in-law who gave her Jeanne Morales contact information.
But everything went very fast; from a Saturday to a Monday I had a lawyer.
I knew that I did not have to sign anything; I did not have to talk. My lawyer was going to speak for me, she was going to defend me and I left everything in her hands.
For the lawyer it was like “we are going to do it and this is what it is going to take it”. That’s the confidence Jeanne Morales gave me, she assured me.

She doesn’t leave anything for granted, she doesn’t leave you behind or just take your money, or do not tell you what’s happening, She is not like “fill these papers” and that’s it, she was taking care of everything.

“I was born in Sicily in 1966, and my parents were born there as well. They brought me to the US in 1969.”

“I just discovered it, just recently, coming back from a trip from Costa Rica, that I’m actually a Citizen, trough my parents, and I’d just never went trough the technicalities of it.”

JM: How did you found out?
“Well. I found out because the Custom Agents have been questioning me about some things that happened in my past, something to do with the Army, and so they actually kind of able to possibly deported me, and so after many hours of detainment, 7 to be exact, they got in the computer and actually it was trough that agent in the Houston Custom Office, he was able to find the documents from my mother and father, and he later informed me that I was in fact a US Citizen from my parents.”
JM: How it’s important to become a US Citizen
“It’s so important to me because I love this country, really this is my country, and this is my home, I have lived here since I was 3 years old”
“I never have the honor to be able vote or do the things a lot of American citizens can”
“And so I’m very excited to be able to cast my vote. I can’t wait for the 2019 election, to vote for the president of the United States.”
“Very emotional day, I waited for this day so long, it just feel so good to be an American Citizen”
JM: What can you tell to people able to become American Citizens?
“I would say. I would urge anyone who wants to be live in the US to become an American Citizen, to be able to vote and to able to take advantage of what this beautiful country has to offer.”
“As long as you remain a citizen of another country and you are not living there, you are really just a visitor in this country.”
“When we live here and we love this country, we all should be citizens and we should be proud to be able to vote, and for our voices to be heard along with all the others American Citizens.”
JM: What can you tell us about Jeanne Morales Attorney?

JM: ¿Cómo se enteró que era ciudadana de EU?
“Me enteré porque los Agentes de Aduanas me preguntaron sobre algunas cosas que sucedieron en mi pasado, algo que tuvo que ver con el Ejército, por lo que en realidad pudieron deportarme, y luego de muchas horas de detención, 7 para ser exacta, se metieron en la computadora y a través de ese agente en la Oficina de Aduanas de Houston, pudo encontrar los documentos de mi madre y mi padre, y luego me informó que de hecho yo era ciudadana estadounidense por mis padres.”
¿Qué tan importante es convertirse en ciudadana estadounidense?
“Es muy importante para mí porque amo este país, realmente este es mi país, y este es mi hogar, he vivido aquí desde que tenía 3 años”
“Nunca tuve el honor de poder votar o hacer las cosas que muchos ciudadanos estadounidenses pueden hacer.”
“Y por eso es que estoy muy emocionada de poder emitir mi voto. No puedo esperar a las elecciones de 2019 para votar por el presidente de los Estados Unidos.”
“Es un día muy emotivo, esperé tanto por este día, que me siento muy bien de ser ciudadana estadounidense.”
JM: ¿Qué puede decirle a las personas que pueden convertirse en ciudadanos estadounidenses?
“Yo diría. Instaría a cualquier persona que quiera vivir en los EU a convertirse en ciudadano estadounidense, a poder votar y a aprovechar lo que este hermoso país tiene para ofrecer.”
“Mientras continúe siendo ciudadano de otro país y no estés viviendo allí, realmente eres sólo un visitante en este país.”

A lawyer from Odessa, I do not remember his last name, but we talked to him and he recommended her to me.
I asked him to recommended me a lawyer, I told him I needed it for a divorce case, I thought he handled these cases, but he told me “I don’t do those cases, but I recommend you Jeanne Morales Attorney”
I asked him where she was located, he told me in Midland, because he was in Odessa, and he gave me the address and I liked it in the first place because it was very close to my house, I didn’t have any problem finding the address or anything, and then something else that I also liked is the fact that she was a woman, and I said “maybe because she is a woman it will go better for me instead of having a man as a lawyer”.
